Super easy to make and addition of honey, lemon juice and vanilla in preparation helps in bringing out the best of these velvety fruits. Plus, that crunch in each bite from tiny seeds is too good to resist.
So, let's get started.
What you need?
Fresh Sweet Figs - 500 grams (1/2 kilograms)
Brown Sugar - 6-7 tablespoons (75-85 grams)
Lemon Juice - 1-2 teaspoon
Vanilla - 1 tablespoon
Honey - 1/4 cup
Directions:
- Place cut figs, sugar, lemon juice and honey in a deep saucepan over medium flame.
- Keep stirring using wooden spatula to mix all the ingredients together and as the sugar melts.
- Soon, figs will start to soften. Bring the mixture to boil. Now reduce heat and keep cooking till the mixture thickens, for about 30 minutes.
-Make sure to keep stirring otherwise jam will stick to the pan and burn.
- Once the mixture has reached thick, jam like consistency, remove it from the stove and add vanilla. Mix again.
- Now, let the mixture cool down completely in the pan.
- Once completely cooled down, transfer the jam to airtight glass jar and store it in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
Note:
- Peeling of Figs is not required as the peel is quite soft and it easily dissolves in the final jam.
- Stirring of jam throughout is REALLY IMPORTANT for it to not stick or burn. Use wooden spatula to stir.
- You can easily regulate the amount and kind of Sugar that you'd prefer in this jam. You can totally avoid sugar and just include honey.
- While sugar works perfectly fine instead of Brown Sugar in this recipe.
